Are you ready to enter the wild world of traditional climbing? Learn the skills you need to access so much more of your vertical world. While many climbers find the prospect of stepping into trad climbing intimidating, and there is certainly much to know about keeping yourself safe, learning trad climbing with a professional instructor makes acquiring this useful skill-set far more accessible than you might imagine. This 8 hour course is tailored to your existing skill-set and can range from a focus on placing traditional gear to anchor building to strategies on when and where to place gear to maximize safety and efficiency. Your guide will aim to give you as much hands on practice with these skills as possible while ensuring maximum safety through back up belays and a measured progression through new skills. Topics covered on this course include:

  • Route selection and planning

  • Gear selection and placement

  • Anchor building

  • Climbing and protection strategy (where to place gear and when)

Time: Start times are available from 7 am to 2 pm.

Do I need previous rock climbing experience?

Yes. This course is designed for participants with a decent amount of experience rock climbing likely including experience with outdoor sport climbing or top-roping.


Is there a minimum age requirement to climb?

Participants must be at least 14 years old.


Can I bring my own equipment?

Yes, and we encourage it! If you have your own gear it is best to climb with what you are familiar with and will be using in the future. We will just need to inspect it to make sure it is in good condition.
