Rock and Rappel

6-Hours | Beginner - Intermediate | 1-8 PeoplE

 

Your guide will meet you at your chosen start time (8 am recommended) at the granite domes of Mary's Lake. Your day will start with instruction on basic rock climbing safety techniques including how to properly fit your equipment, tying in on a figure 8 knot and belaying. After learning these skills you will spend the next few hours putting them to practice on the rock. While climbing your guides will coach you on the finer points of outdoor climbing technique. Once everyone has climbed to satisfaction you will hike to the top of one of the domes with your guide to learn the skill of rappelling. After learning the skill everyone will have the opportunity to descend the rock feature using their newly acquired skill with a back-up from their guide.
